How do I convert a BMP to JPEG?

A JPEG image is a much smaller format than BMP, so many people, especially 56k users prefer it. This format also helps save on bandwidth, without losing much quality.

1. Open the image in Paint.
2. File>Save As>(Under 'Save As Type' menu, choose JPEG)


If you have an older version of Paint, you might not be able to save as a JPEG file. Alternatively you can use a free image editing program called irfanview to do this.

What does the size for my forum signature have to be?

The maximum dimensions for a signature image are 468x60 (the default web banner size)

How do I add my sig?

In the 'My Controls' section, select 'Edit Signature', under the Personal Profile header.
There will be a box on the right where you can enter in code (like [IMG] or [URL] tags) or regular text as your signature.

For an image:
- go to the page where you uploaded your sig and copy the Url of the image.
- go back to the "edit signature" page and click the box "[img]"
- paste the copied Url into the box
- click "update my signature" and check if it works allright.
- if you want to add regular text as your signature, or under the sig, you can just type that into the   box.

How do I add an avatar?

In the 'My Controls' section, select 'Edit Avatar Settings' under the Personal Profile Header.
You can choose between avatars in the base gallery, or you can upload your own from your computer by clicking "browse" and finding the file. The maximum dimensions for an avatar are 64x64 pixels and file size of 20KB or less. It also has to be in .GIF, .JPG, .JPEG, or .PNG format.

Where do I host my pictures or sig?

The three main sites to host images or files are:

Photobucket
At photobucket you sign up for an account. They give you 1 GB of space and plenty of bandwidth (10 GB). With your account, you're able to have multiple albums, and categorize images. There is a maximum file size of 1 MB. Visit site for more info.

Imageshack
At Imageshack, you just upload the images without an account. The maximum file size is 1 MB, and since there is no account, you cannot organize your photos into albums. There is no limit to the amount of space you take up. Visit site for more info.

RCT Dimension
RCTD hosts files up to 2MB in size, and you can upload any file type you want. It is sort of tricky to use the first few times, but is easy once you get the hang of it. There is no limit to the amount of space you take up. This is provided as a free service by a member of NewElement.

Why is my signature not showing up?

If you have saved your signaiture and it doesn't show up, it's because they are off by default on the boards right now. You can still have it show with your posts, but you must check the 'Enable Signature' checkbox every time you post.

How can I change my member title?

There are a few ways to change the title. You can either post to get a promotin, based on the image above, or after you get 1750 posts, you're allowed to choose your own title. You can also get it changed by winning a contest here at RCTspace, or by being a member or leader of a club hosted at RCTspace.
